The New Motorcycle Land Speed
Record Holder Streamliner Number Seven
Sensational Speed Trials sees Bub Racing set new LSR
The 3rd annual International Motorcycle Speed trials by Bub saw motorcycle LSR legend Denis Manning's Bub Racing team break the new mark set at the event by team Top One Oil's "Ack Attack", with an average speed for the return distance timed mile of 350.884 mph*.
Both marks beat an Easyriders/Dave Campos record that had stood since 1990, and with four backed-up record runs and a single pass by Sam Wheeler all breaking the sixteen year old record the International Speed Trials are being judged as an historic week for motorcycle racing.
The Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah hold a unique place in the hearts and minds of all motorsports enthusiasts and have long been the home of legendary achievements. In conditions regarded by some observers as the best seen for motorcycle racing in over 40 years, a dramatic week concluded on Thursday September 7th when the attempts to wrest the new record* from Manning's team at twelve noon.
Christened 'Seven' (it being the seventh streamliner Manning has designed in 40 odd years of holding and chasing the absolute Land Speed Record), the fastest motorcycle in the world features a purpose designed and engineered V-Four cylinder turbo charged 16 valve liquid cooled double overhead cam motor that delivers nearly three liters (158 inches) and close to 500 brake horse power to the technically demanding and notoriously difficult Bonneville surface via a custom designed and made monocoque carbon fiber and Kevlar construction chassis that provides the strength needed by the world's most demanding racing test.
Seven time AMA flat-track champion Chris Carr headed straight for Bonneville from the Springfield Mile to ride for the record, and posted an immaculate 354 mph out run backed up by a 347 return within the permitted two hours during the teams only two runs of the week on Tuesday 5th September.
The International Motorcycle Speed Trials by Bub is held each year at The Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, and is an officially sanctioned AMA and FIM (American Motorcyclists Association and Federation Internationalle de Motorcycliste) event with records and scrutineering ratified to the highest motorsport standards. Times and records will be ratified during the annual FIM congress in October 2006.
